Slow and steady
In the last few days I've had a few conversations with people who are feeling overwhelmed with everything being opened back up. Feeling the expectation of having to suddenly going from isolation to group activities.
There is no rule that says just because you can you have to catch up with people in groups, it is perfectly fine to take your time with reengaging with the world.
After-all here in Melbourne we where in lock-down for effectively almost eight months, meaning especially for those who live alone means we where in isolation for eight months.
I know for myself I'm not quiet ready to go back into the city, preferring to stay out in the suburbs or heading further out.
So if you are feeling overwhelmed or anxious about coming back out, take it a day at a time, and start with just catching up with one or two people at first, picnics and walks are easily enough to organise.
Then perhaps catch up at a cafe and slowly add to the group catch ups, three than four people etc. Go from a quiet cafe, to a restaurant to a pub, take each action one step at a time and let yourself get reacquainted with being back out in among people once more.
Take your time but don't stay isolated to long, just a little bit at a time and relearn how to be in a group once.
