Imbolc and Rejuvenation

Happy Imbolc!

Yes today is Imbolc, marking the mid way point between Winter and the return of Spring.

This is a festival about renewal making it a great festival of self care and rejuvenation.

We discussed last week  the festival itself, this week I thought I'd share some ways to use the festival to give yourself about of self care and reinvigorate yourself especially for those of us living in lock-down areas.

So here are some simple things you can do to both celebrate.

Smudge and spring clean your place.

Throw out all the things that you've shoved in a cupboard but no longer use, I hear you ask how does a spring clean equal self care?

By throwing out all the things you no longer, need, want or use anymore, your telling the universe you are opening yourself up for something new to enter your life.

Give yourself an Imbolc Ritual Bath.

Grab the bath salts, light some candles and as you soak think about anything old and negative that is lingering and let the salt water cleanse it away from you. As you release all that is old and no longer serving you, you're opening yourself up to the renewal energies of the season.

Plan your Spring Garden

This is the time to start prepping gardens for Spring, make yourself a cup of herbal tea and have a think about what you'd like to plant from a seed and see it grow.  By playing with your garden, you're also reconnecting with Nature and Mother Earth and allowing her in to help support you in the coming months.

Go for a walk in Nature

Breathe in the fresh air, let the sun caress and warm your skin, see if you can spot any early spring flowers.  If you spot any white flowers, ask the nature spirits permission to pluck them and place them on your alter back home.

Set Intentions

As this is the festival to welcome back the light, it is the perfect festival to set your intentions for the next 12 months.  Create a ritual space for yourself, light some candles, and meditate on what you would really like to accomplish over the next year, write out your intentions, than with arms open wide tell the Goddess Brigit, and the Universe that you are willing to let go of all that you need to release and are ready to receive the gifts of the new.

Enjoy this Imbolc Day and may your wishes come true.
